The Department of Information Control and Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as DICM) is a major department of the college, which offers five majors, namely Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Computer Control Technology, Urban Subway Transportation Operation Management, Automobile Electronic Technology and Toy Design and Manufacturing, covering fields of science, manufacturing, engineering and management. The Department has been approved as a national training base for CNC technicians, the three-dimensional CAD education and training base of the information technology training center for MIE in Guangdong Province, Guangdong vocational education and training base of CNC technology, and the training base of highly skilled personnel of GuiZhou.

DICM boasts a faculty of well-known experts, scholars, and young and middle-aged teachers with dual qualification in different fields. The department has 43 faculty members, of whom three are professors, 12 associate professors, 25 Doctor's or Master's degree holders, three "Young Backbone Teachers", and one Outstanding Teacher of Guangdong Province. They are all experienced and well qualified, which provides a solid base for students' development.

The Department has won over 50 national awards, more than 60 provincial and municipal awards in various competitions, such as National CNC Skills Contest for College Students, National CAD / CAM Software Application Contest for College Students, National Software Simulation Contest, National Multi-media Educational Software Contest, National College Students Career Planning Contest, National 'Challenge Cup' Contest, National Mathematical Modeling Contest, National 3D Digital Design Contest, National College Art Exhibition Contest, National Language Skills Contest, and other related research and teaching competitions.

The department is committed to providing innovative education for students to be 'expert in their majors and good at other aspects', professional, practical and technically-capable to meet the needs of the society. At present, the department has an enrollment of 1000 full-time students mainly from GuiZhou and partly from other cities in Guangdong province. Over the years, we have provided a large number of well qualified graduates for various factories and enterprises. In 2010, 100% of the 135 graduates found employment, and in 2011, 99.5% of the 287 graduates were employed. The department has built up a promising "employment- oriented, competency-based" teaching platform to provide qualified graduates to society.

Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing

Educational Objectives

This major aims to cultivate professionals with comprehensive qualifications in CAD & CAM theories and technical capabilities. Students receive training in the fields of product modeling, tool design, production engineering, NC programming & manufacturing and technology management.

Major courses include: Tool Material & Surface Treatment; Mechanical Drawing & CAD; Mechanical Fundamental; Tool Design; Tolerance, Fitness & Technical Measurement; NC Programming; Tool CAD/CAM; Machinery & NC Manufacturing Processing; Metal Cutting & NC Machine; Fundamental and Machine for Stamping and Plastic Forming; Practice in CAD/CAM Software; Practice in NC Manufacturing; etc.

Job Prospect

The great industrial markets offer broad employment opportunities. The demands for CAD/CAM technical talents are growing with the rapid development of manufacturing industries. The major of CADM has been designated as a national training base for CNC technicians. Graduates are expected to work in positions in the following manufacturing fields: tool design & manufacturing, forming, products modeling; NC programming, machine operation, machine maintenance and management; sales and after-sale services. The graduates' employment rate remains high, and graduates receive positive feedbacks and reviews from employers. Graduates are employed with high remuneration and career development prospects.

Computer Control Technology

Educational Objectives

This major aims to cultivate highly skilled, 'well-rounded' professionals with a fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electronic technology, computer application and control technology, information detection technology, automation control technology, and the ability to install, debug, maintain, sell automation equipment and manage production lines.

Job Prospect

Graduates are expected to engage in the operation, installation, programming, maintenance and repair for such manufacturing enterprises as mechatronics, automobile, chemical, food and medical industries. They must also be proficient in computer-aided design, development, sales and after-sales services in technical enterprises of the same industries.

The Urban Subway Transportation Operation Management

Educational Objectives

This major aims to cultivate professionals with comprehensive qualifications in ethics, intelligence, physical fitness and aesthetics. Students are required to master the theories of train operation organization, ticket affair organization, passenger organization, urban subway transportation laws. Students must also acquire strong practical professional skills and abilities to cope with emergencies, as well as high ethics, good service and communication awareness.

Job prospect

This major provides education for operators and clerks of the urban real transportation systems. The employment rate of graduates in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 has consistently been at 100%. The graduates are very well received by the employers for their efficiency and skills. Thanks to the rapid development of GuiZhou Metro's construction, the job market for graduates is very promising.

Automobile Electronic Technology

Educational Objectives

This major aims to cultivate highly skilled, 'well-rounded' personnel with a fundamental knowledge in automobile electronic technology. Students train to be capable of service support, overhauling, appraisal, and management and sales of automobile electronic products.

Toy Design and Manufacturing

Educational Objectives

This major aims to cultivate highly skilled 'well-rounded' professionals with both fundamental knowledge and professional skills related to toy design and manufacturing. Students train to be capable in the design and manufacturing of toy products, manufacturing process design and management, and quality control and technical management.
